Commissions

May You Live In Interesting Times has commissioned a number of projects for this year’s Festival. We’ve invited Alfred Sirleaf, a social entrepreneur, based in Liberia, West Africa, to recreate his analogue blog - a blackboard-based live blog which he’ll be carrying out over the course of the Festival. With Ffotogallery, we’ve commissioned Ghana Think Tank, a collective who’ll be attempting to solve everyday problems in Cardiff by consulting their eclectic group of advisors across the world. We’ve also commissioned another five artists and collectives as part of the You May Fund supported by Safle and established in 2005 to encourage creative uses of technology in Wales. Please click on names below for more information and URLs. We’ve invited back Eddo Stern, whose machinima animations we screened at the last festival and who we were keen to continue our collaborations. This is Eddo’s first solo exhibition in the UK. And finally, we’ve invited The People Speak to perform Who Wants to Be...? - an evening of performance and interaction where the audience writes a brief for a technology-based commission - well, we couldn’t programme a do-it-yourself festival without throwing it over to you to decide the basis for a new commission.
